Cranford drivers beside Cranford Park, the M4 and the Bath Road put plenty of miles on their cars, and our Hayes garage investigates faults and explains repairs before starting.
Few places see more traffic than Cranford. The M4 and the A4 Bath Road run close by, and between them they carry commuters, lorries and airport traffic all day. If you live here, your car probably spends a good part of its life in a queue or at speed.
That combination is tough on clutches, brakes, tyres and cooling systems. We are MTS Garage Services, a family-run garage at Chesterfield Way in Hayes, and we repair cars and vans of all makes. We find what is wrong, tell you about it plainly and agree the cost before we start.
Long runs at speed followed by stop-start crawling can show up as overheating, a juddering brake pedal, clutch slip or a loss of power. Warning lights, burning smells and unusual noises should not be left until the weekend. We investigate by checking coolant and oil, inspecting brakes, testing the charging system and reading fault data where the car supports it. Starting problems after a long journey point towards the starter, battery or fuel supply. The aim is to find a single clear cause, then advise on a proper repair.
Whatever you drive, the starting list is similar: leaks, levels, belts, tyres, brakes, suspension, and anything the symptoms mention. A delivery van doing heavy daily mileage will usually need the brakes and suspension looked at with extra care. When the investigation ends, we explain what we found, what is needed immediately and what can be monitored. The estimate comes before the repair, in clear terms, and you can ask as many questions as you like before saying yes or no.
Not every fault stays in one system. A vibrating pedal may be brake discs, a heavy clutch may be the clutch or its hydraulics, and a droning note might be a split exhaust. Because we deal with brakes, clutches, gearboxes, exhausts and servicing in the same garage, we can look at the whole car. If your car is also due a service, we can discuss doing it while the car is with us. Each decision is yours, and we keep our recommendations specific.
Cranford is a residential area beside Cranford Park on the northern edge of Heathrow, close to the M4 and the A4 Bath Road, so a lot of traffic passes through. For drivers here, we are a straightforward journey away in Hayes at 5 Chesterfield Way, UB3 3NW. We also help drivers from Heston, Harlington, Hounslow and Feltham. Mention what the car has been doing when you call, particularly if it happens at speed, as that helps us plan the investigation.

A cooling fan not switching on, low coolant, a stuck thermostat or a blocked radiator are the usual suspects. Stop driving if the temperature gauge climbs, because overheating can seriously damage the engine. We would test the cooling system to find which part is at fault.
Often it is warped or uneven discs, but it can also be worn suspension or a wheel problem. We inspect the brakes first and check the rest if nothing is found, then explain the repair required.
In most cases, yes. We tell you what affects safety and what is less pressing, so you can plan around it. If something should not be left, we will say so clearly.
