Warning lights, a battery that keeps going flat, windows that stop halfway or a car that will not start: we trace the fault, explain it plainly and give you an estimate before any repair begins.
Modern cars run on a lot more wiring than most drivers realise. Lights, windows, central locking, wipers, the engine management and even the heated seats all depend on connectors, fuses, relays and control modules working together, and one weak link can cause symptoms that seem to have nothing to do with each other.
MTS Garage Services is a family-run independent garage in Hayes. We look after electrical faults on cars and vans of all makes and models for drivers around Hayes, Southall and Uxbridge, starting with testing rather than guessing, so you only pay for parts the fault actually needs.

Some faults announce themselves clearly, such as a dashboard full of lights, but others are easy to put down to bad luck. A car that cranks slowly on cold mornings, headlights that dim at idle, a radio that resets itself, or a window that works only on the second press can all point to a failing battery, a weak charging system or a poor connection. Intermittent faults are the hardest to live with because they vanish when you reach the garage. If you can tell us when it happens, whether it is wet, cold, after a long run or just after starting, that detail often saves a good deal of testing time and points us towards the right circuit.
We begin with the basics that cause most faults: battery condition, the charge the alternator is putting out, earth connections, fuses and corroded plugs. From there we use diagnostic equipment to read stored fault codes and look at live data from the relevant modules. Codes tell us where to look, not what to replace, so we then test the wiring, sensor or component itself before recommending anything. Once we know the cause, we explain it in ordinary language, tell you what we recommend and give you a clear estimate. Nothing is repaired until you have agreed to it.
These are the kinds of electrical work drivers bring to us most often.
Electrical work varies more than most repairs. A corroded earth strap is quick to put right, whereas a fault buried in a wiring loom can take time to trace, and that time is the main thing that shapes the estimate. Parts matter too: some modules need coding to the car once fitted, and some vehicles make access awkward. We will tell you early if a fault looks likely to need extended testing, so there are no surprises. If a repair is not worth doing on an older car, we will say so honestly and talk through the options. Bring the car in or call us to book a time.

It is usually one of three things: an old battery that no longer holds charge, an alternator that is not charging properly, or something drawing current when the car is switched off. We test all three, because swapping the battery alone often just delays the same problem.
It depends on the light. A red charging or brake warning means stop safely and call us. Amber lights such as engine management are less urgent but should not be ignored for long. Tell us what the light is and how the car is behaving and we will advise.
Yes. We work on cars and vans of all makes and models. Vans often have extra wiring for racking, lighting or tracking equipment, so let us know about any aftermarket additions when you book, as they can be the source of the fault.
Yes. We find the fault first, explain what is wrong and recommend the work, then give you a clear estimate before any repair begins. If testing turns up something extra, we stop and talk to you before going ahead.
Tell us about your vehicle and we will be in touch.
