From West Drayton it is a straightforward run to our Hayes garage, where a remap is only ever discussed once we know the engine underneath is in good enough shape.
Imagine a driver in West Drayton who notices their diesel feels flat on the slip road and wonders whether a remap would sort it. Sometimes the answer is yes, but often the real cause is a tired injector, a clogged intake or a sticking turbo part. Tuning on top of a fault just adds stress. That is the conversation we have first.
MTS Garage Services is a family-run independent garage at 5 Chesterfield Way in Hayes. We work on cars and vans of every make, explain faults in plain language, and give a clear estimate before repairs or tuning begin. Our approach to engine tuning and ECU remapping is cautious by design, built around what your particular engine can safely take.
Think of the ECU as a set of lookup tables. For each combination of engine speed, throttle position and temperature, it holds a target for fuel quantity, ignition timing and, on turbo engines, boost pressure. Car remapping edits those targets. It does not add new parts, it changes how existing ones are driven. That is why the result depends so heavily on the hardware: fuel pumps, injectors, turbo and cooling all set a ceiling. We explain what is being altered and why, so you can make a sensible decision rather than a hopeful one.
Before petrol ECU remapping or diesel ECU remapping, we want to see clean fault history, healthy sensors, sound ignition or injection, and no leaks in the intake or boost pipework. Turbocharged engines are the least forgiving, since extra boost exposes weak hoses, worn bearings and poor oil changes quickly. A short check is far cheaper than a failed engine. Where we find something that needs attention, we recommend it, show you what we found and agree the way forward with you first.
Before you commit to any tune, ask four questions. Does it suit the vehicle and its condition? Does it keep the car within emissions and road-use rules? What does the manufacturer say about modified software? And what will your insurer say? Declare the change to your insurer in advance, and keep a record. We do not quote power, torque or economy gains, because honest figures depend on the individual engine. We will tell you what looks reasonable and what we would leave alone.
West Drayton lies just west of Hayes, beside the Grand Union Canal and near the northern edge of Heathrow. Its mix of older terraces, 1930s housing and newer flats means plenty of vehicles that are parked outside and used for frequent short trips. We work with drivers from West Drayton, Yiewsley, Harmondsworth, Sipson and Uxbridge. Call us, describe the vehicle and what you want from it, and we will arrange for it to come to Chesterfield Way for a proper look.
We also help drivers with engine tuning and ECU remapping from nearby Yiewsley, Harmondsworth, Sipson, Uxbridge, and the garage in Hayes is the base for all of it.

It is the mildest level of tune, using the standard hardware with changed software settings. Even so, it needs a healthy engine and must suit the vehicle. We check the car first and explain whether a Stage 1 approach is sensible for it.
It can. Manufacturers may take a dim view of altered software if a fault arises, and policies differ. Check your paperwork or ask the manufacturer before the work goes ahead, and decide with that information in front of you.
No, repair first. Rough running points to a fault such as worn ignition parts, a leak or a failing sensor. We diagnose it, explain the cause and give an estimate. Tuning can be reconsidered once the engine is running properly.
