Harlington is on our doorstep, just south of Hayes, so local drivers can bring a leaking, noisy or tired exhaust straight to us and hear the options before any work starts.
Hissing, ticking, a metallic buzz that comes and goes with the revs: these are the classic signs of an exhaust leak, and they rarely fix themselves. Left alone, a small crack tends to widen, and leaking gas can find its way into the car. We deal with this sort of fault all the time at our garage in Hayes.
Our workshop covers exhaust repair and replacement for cars and vans of all makes and models, as well as performance exhaust fitting for those who want to change the sound or the look of the rear end. We explain the fault, recommend the work and give a clear estimate before beginning, so you decide with the facts in front of you.
Leaks happen at joints, gaskets, flexible sections and rusted pipe, and the sound alone does not always tell you which. We lift the car, run the engine and trace the escape, then show you the damaged part. Sometimes a new gasket or clamp is enough; sometimes the metal around the leak is too thin to hold a repair, and a replacement section is the honest answer. Cars kept near older village-style streets and cold starts see more moisture damage, so it is worth acting on early signs.
If you want more character from the exhaust, there are two common routes. A performance rear silencer is a contained job, giving a firmer note from the back. A cat-back system swaps the whole run behind the catalytic converter and changes both sound and appearance. We explain the difference in tone you should expect, which depends on the engine, and we do not make promises about power. The aim is a system that suits the car and sounds good at a steady speed, not one that wears you out on a long run.
Stainless steel is worth a look if you want a system that outlasts the usual rusty failures, but the fit still decides how it behaves. Poor alignment causes rattles, drone and cracked hangers, whatever the metal. Before you buy, ask whether the system keeps the catalytic converter and any particulate filter, whether its noise level is stated for road use, and what comes with it. If the answers are vague, pause. We would rather help you pick something suitable than fit a part that causes trouble later.
Harlington has a village feel around its old centre, with cottages close by and mostly 1930s and post-war housing spreading out from it, and it sits close to Heathrow. We are just north in Hayes, so there is no need to travel far for exhaust work. We also help drivers from Sipson, Harmondsworth and Cranford. Give us a call and describe the noise, or fill in the form, and we will tell you roughly what the problem could be and what the next step looks like.
We also help drivers with performance exhaust systems from nearby Hayes, Sipson, Harmondsworth, Cranford, and the garage in Hayes is the base for all of it.

A small leak is not usually an emergency, but fumes can enter the cabin, particularly with a leak near the front of the system. If you smell exhaust inside the car, open windows and have it checked quickly. A loud, loose exhaust should not be left either.
It can, if the surrounding metal is solid. On thin, rusty pipe the weld may not hold, and another hole opens up nearby. We will tell you honestly whether a repair is worthwhile or a replacement section is better value.
That depends on the product and the car. Some give a pleasant, deeper note at normal speeds, while others drone on a steady cruise. Asking about the sound character before buying helps, and we can talk through the options.
