When a car or van will not start, will not move or is not safe to drive, MTS Garage Services can arrange to get it from where it sits to our workshop in Hayes.
A non-runner is any vehicle that cannot be driven under its own power: a car that has stopped turning over, a van with a seized gearbox, something with a snapped belt, or a vehicle left standing so long that nothing works any more. Moving it is the first problem, and it is usually the one people know least about.
Non-runner recovery Hayes drivers ask us for is mostly about getting the vehicle safely onto a transporter and into the workshop, so the real fault can be found and explained. If a vehicle needs moving, we can do it. For car recovery Hayes customers can rely on from us, phone during opening hours and we will talk through what is possible.

The reasons vary more than most people expect. A flat battery or failed starter motor is the simple end. At the serious end you have a broken timing belt or chain, a seized engine, a gearbox that will not select a gear, a clutch that has let go completely, or a fuel system fault. Sometimes the car runs but cannot be driven safely, perhaps because the brakes have failed or a wheel bearing has collapsed. Accident damage and long storage also create non-runners. We ask what happened just before it stopped, whether any warning lights came on, and whether it made a noise. Those answers help us decide how to move it and where to start looking once it is on our ramp.
A few details make the conversation quicker and the arrangements more accurate.
Access matters as much as the vehicle. A car on an open drive is straightforward. One in a tight car park, behind a locked gate or in a low basement can need a different approach. A vehicle with locked wheels, a seized handbrake or a gearbox stuck in park cannot simply be rolled, so it needs proper handling rather than a quick tow. Size and weight count too, which is why a long wheelbase van is not treated like a hatchback. All of this feeds into the arrangements and into the cost, so we would rather ask a few questions up front than discover a problem when the transporter arrives. We do not promise arrival times, and we will be clear about what is realistic when you phone.
Once the vehicle is in the workshop we find out why it stopped. That might mean engine diagnostics, a check of the transmission, or a look at the electrical and fuel systems. We explain the fault in plain terms, recommend the work and give you a clear estimate before any repair begins. If it turns out the repair is not worth doing on that vehicle, we will say so honestly. We work on cars and vans of all makes and models, and we cover drivers in Hayes, Southall, Uxbridge, Hounslow and West Drayton. Call us to book the vehicle in, and if you need it moved onward to another address, ask about vehicle transport as well.

No. We do not run an out-of-hours recovery service. Please phone during opening hours so we can confirm availability and make arrangements. If you are stuck somewhere unsafe, your breakdown provider or the emergency services are the right people to call first.
We do not promise arrival times, because they depend on where the vehicle is, how it needs to be loaded and what else is booked in that day. When you call we will give you an honest idea of what is usually possible and keep you updated.
Not repeatedly. If a timing belt has snapped or an engine has seized, further cranking can turn a repairable fault into a much bigger one. If it stopped with a bang, a rattle or a burning smell, leave it and call us for advice.
Recovery is usually linked to a repair or diagnosis in our workshop, but if a vehicle simply needs moving, talk to us. We can discuss vehicle transport and logistics separately, depending on the vehicle, the destination and the arrangements needed.
Tell us about your vehicle and we will be in touch.
