If your bike's lever feels vague, the pads are worn thin or the discs are scored, MTS Garage Services supplies and fits EBC brake parts for motorbikes and explains what the job needs first.
Brakes are the one part of a motorbike you cannot afford to leave until later. With two wheels and far less contact with the road than a car, a rider notices a tired set of pads or a warped disc through the lever almost straight away, and it only gets worse with wet weather and traffic.
MTS Garage Services in Hayes fits and supplies EBC brakes and accessories for cars, vans, 4x4s and motorbikes. Riders from Hayes, Hounslow and West Drayton can bring a bike in, talk through what the brakes are doing and get a clear estimate before anything is taken apart.

Squealing is the obvious clue, but not the only one. Look for a grinding noise, a lever that pulls closer to the bar than it used to, a pulsing feel as you slow down, or visible grooves and a lip on the edge of the disc. Pad material that looks thinner than a few millimetres is worth checking soon, and any metal-on-metal noise means stop riding and get in touch. Front and rear brakes wear at different rates, so one end may be fine while the other is finished. Do not judge the whole system by one wheel.
We take the wheel or caliper off, inspect the pads, disc, caliper pistons, slider pins and rubber seals, and measure what is left. Seized pistons and sticking sliders are common causes of uneven wear, so we clean and release them rather than just dropping in new pads. Fresh pads and discs need bedding in, and we explain how to ride them in gently. The brake fluid is checked too, since old fluid absorbs moisture and gives a softer lever. Where it is needed we recommend a fluid change. You get the findings in plain terms and approve the work before we start.
Parts depend on the bike, how you ride and what condition the existing discs are in. We can talk you through the options:
Call us or get in touch with your bike's make, model and year, and tell us what the brakes are doing. That lets us check which parts suit it before you arrive. What the work costs depends on the model, the parts chosen and whether anything else, such as a seized caliper, turns up once the wheel is off. We will tell you what we find, recommend what is needed and agree the estimate with you before repairs begin. If the bike is not safe to ride, say so when you ring and we will talk through the options.

Not always. If the discs are within their wear limit and smooth, new pads alone can be fine. If they are scored, lipped or warped, fitting pads to them tends to give uneven wear. We measure the discs and tell you honestly which way to go.
New pads need a gentle period of use so the surfaces mate properly. Avoid hard stops at first, use gradual braking for the first stretch of riding and build up. We give you specific advice for your bike when you collect it.
No, we do not describe ourselves that way. EBC is a brand we supply and fit for motorbikes, cars, vans and 4x4s. What matters is that the parts suit your bike, are fitted properly and the work is explained before it starts.
Tell us about your vehicle and we will be in touch.
